Abstract

PT Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines (SPIL) is a leading container shipping company in Indonesia based in Surabaya. Established since 1970, SPIL has grown into the largest technology-based container shipping company in Indonesia, serving more than 40 ports throughout the archipelago. In its operations, SPIL relies on a fleet of ships with complex engines that require periodic and specific maintenance to maintain optimal performance and the sustainability of ship operations. Ship engine maintenance often involves replacing components or spare parts, where contractor work order sheet management is a crucial aspect. This study discusses the obstacles faced by SPIL in ship engine maintenance operations, such as uncertain delivery schedules, unclear work instructions, limited delivery route options, external factors such as weather, and ineffective communication processes. To overcome these obstacles, SPIL optimizes the submission of Contractor Work Order Sheets (LOKK) by utilizing modern technology, such as supporting applications (mySpil) or integrated information systems. In addition, improving human resources through staff training and coordination, as well as better document management and periodic evaluations are also carried out to support the optimization of ship engine maintenance operations.
