Abstract

Pendidikan dwibahasa di Institusi Pelayaran memegang peranan penting dalam mempersiapkan taruna menghadapi tantangan global di industri maritim. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tantangan utama yang dihadapi dalam penerapan pendidikan dwibahasa (Bahasa Indonesia dan Bahasa Inggris) dalam studi nautika di institusi pelayaran, serta merumuskan strategi yang efektif untuk meningkatkan keberhasilan pengajaran. Menggunakan metode campuran yang melibatkan survei kepada taruna dan wawancara dengan pengajar di berbagai institusi pelayaran, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hambatan terbesar adalah kurangnya sumber daya pengajaran dwibahasa yang relevan, serta keterbatasan pelatihan bagi pengajar dalam mengadaptasi materi teknis nautika ke dalam dua bahasa. Studi ini juga mengidentifikasi strategi-strategi yang dapat diimplementasikan, termasuk pelatihan intensif bagi pengajar, penyediaan materi ajar yang lebih interaktif, dan penggunaan teknologi untuk mendukung pembelajaran. Implikasi penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya pendekatan holistik dalam pendidikan dwibahasa untuk memastikan bahwa taruna dapat mengembangkan kompetensi teknis dan linguistik yang diperlukan di lingkungan kerja internasional. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi peningkatan kualitas pendidikan maritim di Indonesia
